Green Loch (Loch An Uaine) near Aviemore, Speyside
3 different routes to test you. Take the ski road from Aviemore and drive past Loch Morlich and through Glenmore.

Park at Heron's Field car park approx quarter of a mile past Glenmore Centre. The car park is on your right after you cross the small bridge just outside of Glenmore.

Easy Route for a gentle cycle

• Cycle along up the ski road for a short bit - take care as the cars will pass at some speed.
• The trail takes off to your left into the forest across a footbridge at grid ref 983087.
• Follow the trail over 2 more bridges until you reach a "T" junction.
• Take a right and cycle until you reach the Green Loch (Loch An Uaine).
• Return along the same path or head along the path to Glenmore lodge, rejoining the road at the Reindeer House where you turn left and cycle along the road back to where you left your car

OR

Two alternative trails (7km & 9km)
Start from the same car park in the opposite direction:

• Follow the trail/forest road entering the forest at the top of the car park, cycling past a quarry.
• Take a right at the "Y" junction and follow the trail close to the shores of Loch Morlich. There are fantastic views of the hills.
• Take the left trail at the next "Y" junction for a gentle climb through the forest past Serpent's Loch. (Taking the right trail will take you through a cycle gate to the Rothiemurchus Estate trail links that connects to other trails around Loch Morlich).
• A moderate uphill stretch leads to another junction - turning right will take you to the summit of this point with fantastic views of the Cairngorms and the surrounding area.

At this point you can take either of these trails back:

Serpent's Loch Trail (7km total)

• Continuing straight on for a steep descent will bring you back to the main road whereby you turn left and return to the car park along the husky trail running along the side of the ski road.

Extended Trail (9km total)

• Take the right trail to the south - a circular route that goes towards the south edge of the park before turning east then north before joining the Serpent's Loch Trail as it descends down to the road.
• This route extends your cycle by 2km to 9km.
