Introduction

This Munro stands alone as the most westerly within the wild expanse of the Monadh Mountain range.

An interesting drive from Laggan (via a minor single track road) takes you up by the roots of the River Spey to the starting point at Garva Bridge. This offers stunning views as you drive by the Spey Dam.

All in all this mountain may not be the most shapely or challenging but the immense scenery in the surrounding area more than makes up for this. I'll certainly consider it a place worthy of a return visit for low-level walks or mountain biking.

Route

• Start at the car in the spacious car park that sits on the south side of Garva bridge.
  
  
• Cross the bridge and follow a good path for 3/4km till you reach a footbridge that crosses the Fieth Talagain (OS523952).
  
  
• From this point head directly towards the rising shoulder of Geal Charn to North -East.
  
  
• Cross some boggy ground for 1.5km till you reach the junction of the Fieth Talagain and Allt Coire nan Dearcag(OS540968).
  
  
• The accent becomes steeper at this point as you rise from 460m till arriving on the summit plateau at 890m.
  
  
• Once arriving on the plateau a easy walk of 1/2km takes you to a fine 2 m high cairn.(71/2km, 2hr20min & 630m accent)

• This was done in a quick time but in favourable dry and clear conditions.
  
  
• The views Northwards are impressive and provide an unspoilt landscape in to the distance.
  
  
• The route of decent can by done quickly by retracing your steps or if you have time go south easterly for 1 km and take in Beinn Sgiath (887m).This offers views down Glen Markie and Lochan a` Coire.
  
  
• Descend due south for 1/2km before swinging down south west along the broad ridge till reaching the junction of the Fieth Talagain and Allt Coire nan Dearcag (OS540968).
  
  
• Follow the inward route from here back to the car park at Garva Bridge.
